Kayans in Thailand

I am fascinated by other cultures and find their customs to be extremely interesting. Our guide took us to a little market on the way to Chiang Mai and I was surprised to see a little village of Kayan people, who are traditionally from Myanmar. As we walked through their shops we watched them weaving and creating all sorts of beautiful items. They would often point to my camera as if to take a picture which was probably smart, because then I felt like I should buy an item at their shop. After leaving, I did a little research and found that many Kayan tribes fled Myanmar and set up refugee camps in Thailand, and that the Long Neck group became a tourist site that was self-sufficient on tourist revenue.
