The Nursery

Preparing a place for the baby and planning the nursery was honestly one of my favorite things to do during the pregnancy! We had a completely blank canvas and nine months to fill and decorate an empty room with everything we would need once the baby arrived. Pinterest was our best friend to look for inspiration!

As soon as we found out we were having a girl, I immediately gravitated toward watercolors and florals for the nursery theme. I envisioned blush pinks, whites, and delicate feminine details. I also loved bunnies and unicorns to add some whimsy and fun!

We started by looking for baby furniture. I actually got this before finding out if we were having a boy or a girl, so I opted for a gender-neutral gray color that would grow with the child so we could either convert the crib into a toddler bed and then a full bed or reuse it as a crib for a second baby one day.

Next, the walls - I wanted an accent wall with wallpaper, and white walls for everything else. We had to get our wall retextured to hang the wallpaper and paint the remaining walls. The wallpaper was a bit more of an undertaking than I had originally anticipated cost and time-wise but I loved the way it turned out and thought it was 100% worth it in the end.

We love reading and wanted to have a fun space for books, so we bought spice racks from Ikea, painted them the color of the walls and hung them up to use as book racks!

For the map portraits above the changing table, I had saved a Rifle Paper Calendar with the maps and cut them out to fit in frames I got from Hobby Lobby. They also sell them as prints through Rifle Paper!
